ibiblio takes a few seconds here. you might be better off finding a mirror closer to you. i am reasonably sure this is not really a gentoo linux related bug I've tried 10 different mirrors, in Australia, USA, Canada and UK. Same problem, emacs is all but hung when fetching packages. At the rate it's going, it'll take DAYS to fetch/install dired and its dependencies. Again I say - my internet connection is fine - I DON'T get any problems like this with any other software on gentoo - just xemacs. Since we've established that its not your internet connection, and its not you gentoo install...perahaps its an XEmacs problem. You might be better of researching the problem on XEmacs' mailing lists, bug database and newsgroups. I can't reproduce this problem on either SuSE 8.0, Redhat 7.1 or Gentoo in two different locations (albiet both in the US). |
