Bug 279268 is back for sci-geosciences/gmt-4.5.18 because the ebuild for that dropped the eautoreconf call. While the patch I had proposed back then was targeting both configure and configure.ac, the gmt-4.5.9-no-strip.patch that got submitted to portage only targets configure.ac and thus depends on a reconf step to take effect.
