Bug 667538 – mail-client/alpine-2.21.1 editable From: line when composing a message is missing since this version

mail-client/alpine since 2.21.1 does not offer editable From: line when composing a new message or replying. The version  2.00-r7 was the last
working well, offering to edit From, To, Cc, Attachements and Subject.

I am using /etc/postfix/canonical and /etc/postfix/relayhost_maps to
direct messages to different servers (private, work) based on the contents
of the From: line, which is not possible with the new version of alpine.

Is there perhaps some configuration option to turn this on again?
If not, this functionality should not have been removed!

I cannot reproduce this.

Do you have "Allow Changing From" in your "Composer Preferences" in settings checked?

Also, please check whether you have "From" listed in "Default Composer Headers" in the Config section of the Settings.

Thanks, I had "Allow Changing From" but "Default Composer Headers" was empty
(and well hidden in the menus, I would never find it out myself). After changing
.pinerc to
default-composer-hdrs=From,To,Cc,Attchmnt,Subject
it works.

This solved it for me too, was also missing the "default composer headers" part.
