A newer version of kst (0.99) has been released: http://omega.astro.utoronto.ca/kst/

A simple version bump of the 0.97 ebuild worked fine for me.

Ebuild for kst-0.99

This ebuild is similar to the previous one, only it enforces a runtime
dependency with gsl. Kst can be compiled without gsl support, but a number of
functions related to data analysis will not work (e.g. data fitting).

The ebuild works fine as far as the emerge process is concerned - gsl is pulled in as dependency but i didnt have the time to test its functionality yet.
