linux-firmware is an upstream project. We cannot just add things to it. Presumably a new package for these firmware files is what you want. linux-firmware is an upstream project. We cannot just add things to it. Presumably a new package for these firmware files is what you want. Please submit a patch or pull request to linux-firmware upstream first, if they accept we can make a new snapshot. Until then, a separate package is probably better. If you are willing to maintain such as package in Gentoo, I suggest to contact the proxy-maintainers project. https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Proxy_Maintainers i wrote a extended email to linux-firmware@kernel.org requesting the addition of these 2 firmware files, still hoping to get them included in the next major release of linux-firmware... still no errors while using this excellent multisource pcie radio, analog video, dvb-s(2)/t(2)/c tv-card also with recent kernels (gentoo-sources-4.19.15+) i can also strongly recommend the official linuxtv.org page for this card https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-HVR-5525 it is the last piece of hardware in my system which needs external copied-in firmware! also now celebrating my 15th year of successful (gentoo) linux use in private and professional mechanical and electrical engineering environtment... please keep up the good support and many thanks to all folks here for making the finest operation system in the world possible As already stated in this bug, we ship what is provided by upstream and this has already been reported upstream. It's up to them now. |
