Currently stable version of celery is broken:

I confirm that bug and upgrade to 4.1.1 (simple ebuild copy) fixed issue. Please, bump and stabilize asap.

Doesn't this happen only with kombu >= 4.2? Kombu stable is still 4.1 in the tree.

Not saying that we shouldn't bump, but no need to fast track stabilization either, as you suggest.

I'll add a stricter kombu dependency constraint in the current stable ebuild.

Nope, I have dev-python/kombu-4.2.1 installed but I still had this error.
