Hi,
  I stitched dev-lua/lua-md5-1.2::science package but somehow it is is not working well (is not registered into pkg-config). anyway, I am not really interested in maintaining this, is anybody fimiliar with lua to take it? Thank you.

  Ideally should be tested with sci-biology/genometools-1.5.10::science .

It is in science overlay. And current lua-md5-1.2.ebuild does not install md5.h header so sci-biology/genometools::science does not compile due to that.
