This should not be possible. Feels like a tinderbox image with still broken metadata or out of sync eclass to me. CCing who added PYTHON_COMPAT just in case. I really have no clue how you repeatedly manage triggering this. Check the output of this command: portageq metadata / ebuild dev-libs/glib-2.54.3-r6 IUSE Also, check if you have a customized portdbapi.auxdbmodule setting in /etc/portage/modules.
