init.d file correction #2
Corrected some short-thinkedness in the previous version of the init script. My
mind must've skipped a beat or something as I wrote that retval=$? line without
thinking that a failed n'th mode and a successful m'th (where m>n) would result
in an eend 0 ;-)
Attached ebuild, config file and init script worked well for me. Very nice! I just got a Dell 700m, and thanks to this ebuild, I'm able to get 1280x800 resolution to work. Bump... about time someone threw this into Portage? Just remembered this today when I read about some Ubuntu people complaining about the missing 1400x1050 mode, only to notice Ubuntu has 855resolution in its package system. We can't let them outdo us, now can we?! I see now that media-gfx probably was a horrible choice of category, by the way. Created attachment 61383 [details]
Version bump. 855resolution 0.4 has been released.
The ebuild is a trivial update to version 0.4. The program itself appears to
have been rewritten from 0.3 to 0.4, so you may want to try it with caution. I
did not experience any problems with it.
The function and operational syntax of the program remains the same, so the old
init.d and conf.d files are good.
I'll happily maintain this package ebuild, as I have a dell inspiron 700m, which uses the 855GME. Give me a couple minutes to incorporate your conf.d and init.d files into the ebuild I had written (boo to me for not checking bugs.gentoo.org *first*), and I'll upload the ebuild (after some more testing). Thanks for the ebuild/conf.d/init.d files! You can now find sys-apps/855resolution in portage. |
