Bug 65979 – gnome-system-tools crashing after entering password

After entering the password for root access and pressing enter, all the tools crash with the following pop-up message: An unexpected error has occured.  All tools were accessed through the applications menu.  System is ~amd64.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Select tool
2.Enter in root password
3.



Expected Results:  
The tools should open.

need more information:
emerge info(should always be included, read bug report guidelines)
try running from console and see if there are more verbose error messages

Output from time-admin in console (identical from other tools):

I have exactly the same problem, also on ~amd64. Maybe it's platform specific

I also found out that the programs (network-admin, services-admin, ...) segfault in a perl process:

# dmesg
perl[14520]: segfault at ffffffff95ec7070 rip 0000002a95e453f0 rsp 0000007fbffff158 error 4

It probably doesn't have to do with password entry, as it crashes in the same fashion (without asking for a password) if you start it as root.

This is probably related to bug #17880, which I recently patched.

Could amd64 please test/confirm?
