Finally, it started to build (version 60.0.2, the one that required me to build rust from sources overnight, but the problem is the same for all versions). Turns out, for arm64, firefox needs to be built with USE="-neon". This is awkward, since there are no arm64 cores without neon. I guess, for arm64, this flag should not be in use. This build eventually failed anyway, but that's different story as this report is all about 'configure' stage. www-client/firefox-52.8.1 build completed with USE="-neon". This is incorrect, configure needs to be updated to work properly when checking for neon support. It's not only this package. Just found that tensorflow also tries to invoke compiler with -mfpu=neon when building for arm64. In the past, I tinkered around a bit with firefox-59.0 on arm, and got a similar error if I remeber it correctly. The problem seemed to be, that clang doesn't accept the cflags and stuff that get passed over in case USE="neon" - have a look at the mozconfig-v6.60 eclass to see what it does actually. Workaround is to disable the neon useflag, and if you can figure out which cflags to pass instead to enable neon, a patch would be welcome. If you're looking for something strictly clang, then try following flags: -Xclang -target-feature -Xclang "+neon" Something that both gcc and clang accept would be: -march=armv8-a+simd |
