The ProtonMail Bridge is a closed source (said to be open sourced after beta, according to protonmail devs) application that encrypts and decrypts your ProtonMail. It serves your mail over a local IMAP/SMTP service in order to use your ProtonMail account with any client that supports IMAP and SMTP.
