...may be this major update version gstreamer-1.14 will fit better with masked ffmpeg-4.0

gnome-next overlay already has this in case you are interested in doing some testing.

simple bumping all the ebuilds 
gst-1.14.0 to 1.14.1 
from gnome-next works fine!

Is there an eta for when we can get this in the the main repo?  gnome-next pulls in a lot more.

Main things should be done; some more auxilliary stuff to be done in the coming days. Testing appreciated, especially in the area of things involving OpenGL/GLESv2 (gst-plugins-base, gst-plugins-bad, gst-plugins-gtk, gst-plugins-vaapi)
