rc version should be masked. it seems it isn't. rolled back to 18.0.0 and i3 doesn't crash at startup now. Hard lock, causes keyboard and display to freeze with cursor, no windows, black screen. I didn't see anything in the Xorg.log.old to indicate an issue. Not sure whether this warrants its own bug report. With this package Plasma Wayland falls back to software rasterizer due an egl error at init. Reverting to mesa 18.0.1 fixes this. Mesa-18.1 only works with the modesetting-ddx driver as explained in this commit to recent xorg-server: https://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/commit/?id=352a5ac87fd344936b759a5766eb74271e7d295d I bet this bug originates from not using the modesetting driver. I am using x11-drivers/xf86-video-amdgpu-1.3.0 is there a requirement to use something like 1.4.0 or 18.0.1 ? no, 18.0.1 doesn't make a difference, perhaps a 18.1.0 would, but no dice. You should use the modesetting driver. To do so, change or add in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/whatever.conf in 'Section "Device"' the driver directive to 'Driver "modesetting"'. okay google-chrome does produce a window without any decorations just an image of what is underneath which you can move about but does not display anything else not even borders etc. as tested with mesa-18.1.0_rc3. still everything works fine with mesa-18.0.3. mucking about after reading bug 650228 I added --enable-gtk#3 to the xfwm4 (git sourced ) ebuild and then chrome displays properly with mesa-18.1.0_rc3 with xorg-server-1.20.0, xorg-drivers-1.20, xf86-video-intel-2.99.917_p20180214 added bug for ebuild for xfwm4-9999 for testing #655474 Please test mesa-18.1.1-r1. |
