IsolateDevice patch for XFree86

Description Fredrik Tolf 2004-09-25 05:09:35 UTC
It would be very nice if Gentoo were to add the IsolateDevice patch (formerly PrefBusID patch) from the given URL to the Xorg and Xfree ebuilds.

For those that are unaware of this patch, it restricts the X server to reset only the device that it's going to use, allowing one to run several simultaneous X servers along with the Ruby kernel patch from http://linuxconsole.sf.net/.

I'm very sure it has been proven stable, in particular since it doesn't do anything at all unless one gives the IsolateDevice or SingleCard option in your xorg.conf/XF86Config.

I'll add the patches (one for xorg, one for xf86) as attachments as well.
