How boincmgr-7.16.11 looks like on my computer Empty disk tab after startup |
Today I restored the stable system, then I had to create a new user because KMail and friends couldn't go backwards, as it were. The disk display has come back. What could have been lurking in my old home directory to cause this disappearing display? I more suspect boinc-7.8 not being totally fit for wxGTK-3.0-gtk3, yet. When those areas are blank, I have to resize the window, and they come back. However, I am currently preparing to update to boinc-7.9.3, as that is where the development goes. Hopefully some of the issues the 7.8 series has with GTK+-3 are resolved there. ...we'll see... I can not reproduce this with boinc-7.14.2. Can you? Created attachment 670454 [details] How boincmgr-7.16.11 looks like on my computer This is what I see with sci-misc/boinc-7.16.11 on Plasma. (The PR for the bump is still on its way. See: https://github.com/gentoo/gentoo/pull/18183 ) (In reply to Sven Eden from comment #3) > I can not reproduce this with boinc-7.14.2. > Can you? Yes, it's still the same. Resizing the display brings the disk diagram up, as in your comment 2. After I have moved to a new installation, the display was shown correctly on first try. After several days, it went back to the old behavior, with an empty tab that needs its window resized. I could not find anything related in the boind issues lists, so this is either Gentoo specific, or nobody else cares. Question: It is only a minor nuisance, so is it worth that we dig into the not-so-small sources to fix this ourselves? However, I will upload an explaining screenshot and will open an upstream issue. (In reply to Sven Eden from comment #6) > Question: It is only a minor nuisance, so is it worth that we dig into the > not-so-small sources to fix this ourselves? It is rather easily worked around, so I'd say No. (Actually, I hadn't even noticed that little white square in the upper left corner until you mentioned it.) > However, I will upload an explaining screenshot and will open an upstream > issue. That should fix it, Sven. Thank you - a lesser man might have just given up and forgotten about it. :) (In reply to peter@prh.myzen.co.uk from comment #8) > That should fix it, Sven. Thank you - a lesser man might have just given up > and forgotten about it. :) Well, this issue persist far too long now. However, I have spend some time trying out wxGTK-3.0.5 and wxGTK-3.1.4. Neither changes anything, so my upstream bug seems to be the only thing left to wait for. Still no update from the issue on github, sorry. |
Created attachment 523908 [details] emerge --info When I select the disk display in boinc manager, it's empty. Nothing at all below the menu and tab bars. I've tried remerging boinc, webkit-gtk and wxGTK; no difference. This was happening on a stable amd64 box. I've now installed an ~amd64 system on the same box (nothing else is changed) and get the same result. Is there some debugging I can do?
