build.log

Was trying to build falkon,
the system is ~amd64 default/linux/amd64/17.0/desktop/plasma profile, with absolutely no obscure flags, but:

The whole system was using libressl. I guess it's the reason of failure.
I haven't tried to emerge with openssl.

Unfortunately I've already nuked it, so only build log remains, no emerge --info, sorry. But I do have enviroment file from the PORTAGE_TMPDIR, so I can upload it if it's needed.
Comment 1 Andreas Sturmlechner gentoo-dev 2018-03-15 17:45:23 UTC
Did you build qtnetwork with libressl support?
Comment 2 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2018-03-15 17:55:46 UTC
Which USE flag/s did you set in make.conf / for this special package ?
Comment 3 Georgy Yakovlev archtester gentoo-dev 2018-03-15 19:07:39 UTC
yes, qtnetwork was built with libressl. everything was, including whole plasma-meta and all the deps.

I had libressl in USE in make.conf along with CURL_SSL=“libressl”
and did run emerge -uDN —with-bdeps=y —changed-deps @installed after that.

no special flags for falkon. geolocation was disabled.

I’ll try to build once more in a chroot to reproduce sometime this week with proper info and get back here.
Comment 4 Georgy Yakovlev archtester gentoo-dev 2018-03-18 04:48:15 UTC
ok I've build it again, can still reproduce.

also see exact same thing reported upstream:

Comment 5 Georgy Yakovlev archtester gentoo-dev 2018-03-18 05:14:15 UTC
Ok, I confirm adding

-Wl,--no-fatal-warnings

to LDFLAGS works.

Writing this message using falkon, using libressl.

here's what I did:

mkdir -p /etc/portage/env
echo 'LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -Wl,--no-fatal-warnings"' > /etc/portage/env/ldflags-no-fatal-warnings.conf
echo 'www-client/falkon ldflags-no-fatal-warnings.conf' >> /etc/portage/package.env

Comment 8 Mircea Sava 2018-04-19 14:17:13 UTC
I am able to confirm both the issue and the workaround.
Comment 9 Pablo Cholaky 2018-04-26 04:46:01 UTC
I can also confirm the workaround.

Comment 11 Aaron Bauman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2018-06-08 22:25:42 UTC
Re-opened.

I have reverted the commit removing libressl support. This may possibly be fixed on the libressl side or some other implementation. Basically, the warning should not be treated as an error as Georgy has shown through his workaround.
Comment 12 Stefan Strogin gentoo-dev 2020-02-09 01:01:38 UTC
Cannot reproduce it with falkon-3.1.0-r1 and libressl-3.0.2. Builds and runs.
USE="X dbus kde libressl -debug -test".
Comment 13 Stefan Strogin gentoo-dev 2020-02-09 01:32:42 UTC
FWIW, I am using dev-qt/qtnetwork from libressl overlay.
Comment 14 Stefan Strogin gentoo-dev 2020-02-09 01:46:49 UTC
Leaving the bug open until dev-qt/qtnetwork supports libressl without the overlay.
