please include your 'emerge info' output, as well as your phpinfo(); output. GetText works perfectly fine for me with USE=nls on all of {php,mod_php}-{4*,5*}. Gettext support in Horde works fine for me. Could you do up a small testcase that works on another distro and fails on Gentoo and attach it here? I was using Savane.
