Output of emerge during the build, including the segmentation faults.

When rebuilding x11-themes/adwaita-icon-theme-3.24.0 as part of the world rebuild of the 17.0 profile switch, I get a lot of segfaults of /usr/bin/gtk-encode-symbolic-svg (which in turn is part of x11-libs/gtk+-3.22.19) like these:

[...]
/bin/sh: line 4: 12901 Segmentation fault (core dumped) /usr/bin/gtk-encode-symbolic-svg ../../Adwaita/scalable/$file $size -o /var/tmp/portage/x11-themes/adwaita-icon-theme-3.24.0/image//usr/share/icons/Adwaita/$size/$context
/bin/sh: line 4: 12919 Segmentation fault (core dumped) /usr/bin/gtk-encode-symbolic-svg ../../Adwaita/scalable/$file $size -o /var/tmp/portage/x11-themes/adwaita-icon-theme-3.24.0/image//usr/share/icons/Adwaita/$size/$context
/bin/sh: line 4: 12939 Segmentation fault (core dumped) /usr/bin/gtk-encode-symbolic-svg ../../Adwaita/scalable/$file $size -o /var/tmp/portage/x11-themes/adwaita-icon-theme-3.24.0/image//usr/share/icons/Adwaita/$size/$context
[...]

Full "log", i. e. the output of emerge during the build process, is attached since the build apparently exited without error code and portage merged the package without error.

Rebuilding x11-libs/gtk+-3.22.19 and then x11-themes/adwaita-icon-theme-3.24.0 resolved all segfaults (not one occured anymore), so this will not be reproducible from my side.

Reporting anyway since it might be helpful.

Comment 1 Alex 2018-03-24 10:03:25 UTC
The same problem.
Comment 2 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2018-03-31 19:45:30 UTC
It will be hard to solve that gtk-encode-symbolic-svg without having a proper backtrace I guess:
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:GNOME/GNOME3-Troubleshooting#Getting_backtraces

The problem is that maybe you will need to rebuild gtk+ for getting the debugging symbols and, after that, the bug won't appear :/

I see the same thing on sparc.

I think this is probably bug 750239, which is not solvable.

Unsure, but doubtful that this is related to the original report here.

Going to mark as obsolete, since we don't seen to have seen many other reports in the last two three or so years.
