Description Michał Górny archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2017-12-31 10:17:51 UTC
I have expressed multiple times that I find calling myself 'the gorn' insulting and I do not wish for it to take place. However, Ian Delaney keeps doing it on official Gentoo channels. From #gentoo-trustees:

[11:05:42] <idella4> and the gorn points the finger as the gorn does; ah the joys of the blame game; but mgorny DO stay on topic after all you ARE a role model to all here
[11:06:02] <mgorny> idella4: i find your name calling on me offensive
[11:06:12] <idella4> and .....
[11:06:32] <mgorny> and insulting
[11:06:36] <idella4> actually it was not meant to be entered; accident
[11:06:42] <idella4> you can talk .....
[11:08:03] <idella4> I found you offensive and insulting for years

Given the weight of the crimes over which his developer status has been terminated, and the fact how he has repeatedly shown insulting behavior against Gentoo and Gentoo developers since then, I find it entirely inappropriate for Trustees to be supporting him and his vendetta against Gentoo by allowing his insulting behavior on the official Foundation channel.

Before we get in trouble over this, Ian hasn't been found guilty of any "crimes" by ComRel, nor could he. We are not a police / judicial body with the power to investigate or judge "criminal offences".

For more context, this was the day (night?) before.

15:46 < idella4 > a re-run ???
16:11 < idella4 > so is it any wonder that gentoo is broken, more each day? The breaks reached here long ago
17:34 < mgorny+> idella4: yes, we still haven't managed to find and fix all the mess you've caused
17:34 < idella4 > what did I say about a guilt dump?
17:34 < idella4 > once wasn't enough you come and do it all again
17:35 < idella4 > also mgorny joins the dots into a wrong mess

I will say that whenever a trustee has been around in the -trustees channel we've told the parties arguing to stop or go elsewhere (this type of thing has happened in the past). Unfortunately we are not around at all times, especially with the holidays.

Should this be assigned to trustees or comrel?

I believe most in ComRel agree this is not a ComRel issue, but a Trustees issue, so it should be kept assigned to Trustees.

ok, then should I remove comrel from cc? I'll add this to our meeting agenda.
Comment 5 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2018-01-02 18:31:40 UTC
First of all, let me also state that the word "crime" is not suitable here. Given that many of us are not native speakers, we should probably not put too much emphasis on this though.

Since #g-trustees is in closest analogy a team channel, it is foremost team responsibility to clean up there. So I would like to refer this to the trustees for discussion and decision.

I would like to request that Comrel remains informed and in cc. I'd also like to make the points that a) as official foundation channel, being present in #gentoo-trustees (and not getting harassed) is in the interest of every foundation member, and b) obviously the Code of Conduct applies there as well.
Comment 6 Matthew Thode ( prometheanfire ) archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2018-01-21 00:24:53 UTC
following the guidelines set by the proposed proctor rules we have initiated a 24 hours ban from #gentoo-trustees to take effect immediately.
