regoth is a reimplementation of the zen engine, which was used for Gothic I/II. With this it would be possible to play these games nativly on Linux. It is hosted on github: https://github.com/REGoth-project , and it seems to be still alpha or beta, but usable for testing.

I am not an expert in writing ebuilds from scratch, so I took one ebuild from tree and started to play around with it. My efforts lead to an ebuild in the sense of working up to src_compile. However, src_install only installs some documents to the live file system.

So, if some would like to pick this up, or give a clue about what is wrong with the ebuild and src_install especially, it would be much appreciated.

We will not add alpha software to the tree, but perhaps to betagarden or another overlay.

You likely need no eutils in the inherit line.

You can create your own overlay and develop the ebuild with the help of our support channels for example IRC #gentoo-dev-help on your favourite git repository.

Here are some links for a start:

I finally found time to hack an ebuild, and may send it to some overlay.
