Bug 63983 – samba 3.0.7 ebuild will not compile, exiting with error: Cannot find $EPATCH_SOURCE

When I try to emerge samba-3.0.7 it exits with the following error:

 * Applying samba-3.0.x-python-setup.patch...                             [ ok ]
 * Applying samba-3.0.x-smbumount-uid32.patch...                          [ ok ]
amd64

 * Cannot find $EPATCH_SOURCE!  Value for $EPATCH_SOURCE is:
 *
 *   /usr/portage/net-fs/samba/files/samba-3.0.7-libdirsymlink.patch

I have a amd64 machine.
The following is in /etc/make.conf
USE="kde qt cups foomaticdb usb dvd alsa cdr nls multilib"
I tried with -gtk -gnome, without multilib and nls and without cups foomaticdb and usb, to no avail.
It does compile on my dual opteron system, that by my memory only has gcc-3.3.4 not compiled with multilib.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. login as root
2. emerge samba / USE="oav readline cups pam -python ldap kerberos -xml -acl -mysql" emerge net-fs/samba
3. exits with named error

Actual Results:  
Compiling fails with the following error:

 * Cannot find $EPATCH_SOURCE!  Value for $EPATCH_SOURCE is:
 *
 *   /usr/portage/net-fs/samba/files/samba-3.0.7-libdirsymlink.patch

Expected Results:  
Finish compilation and upgrade samba.

nothing special running. stopped samba before emerge.
