Another example of the bug.
I tried to find the breaking commit by bisecting the code from the git repo. Things turned really mysterious quickly. If I had one successful scan, all the following scans would be OK no matter the version. If I had one broken scan, all the following scans would be broken no matter the version. I realized I had to restart my computer every time I compiled a new version to get a real result. This seemed to work for a while, until I realized it wasn't enough - I started to get mixed results after searching for a while. Then I started re-plugging the scanner after every reboot. And suddenly, the problem went away. I just did a fresh reboot, plugged in the scanner, and, using the sane-backends-1.0.27, I did a successful scan. This is all very strange as the problem seemed to be 100% reproducible yesterday. I also have had it always since upgrading to 1.0.27.
