Description Laurent PEQUIN 2002-08-11 11:15:35 UTC
I've tried to install apache and php with emerge ...
after a while, emerge stops (back to the shell) and my computer stops (freezes).
Since that moment, i could not install any programs because emerge just freeze
the computer when i call it...
I'm sorry, but i don't know how it has arrived...
I've you got a solution, or should i re-install gentoo ?
best,
Laurent

what version of emerge ?
if its the latest (2.0.27) then try running `strace emerge <cmd>`

if you dont have strace, you need to emerge it ... but since you cant, hop on
irc and start asking people (irc.openprojects.net #gentoo) ... and if im alive
when you come on ill help you

check your /tmp directory for a file called sandboxpid

please remove those files, and try again.

laurent reported that it was an xfs issue. He umounted /var, fsck'd it,
remounted, and had no further issues.
