Looks like https://github.com/cython/cython/issues/1911 Don't know if it has been noticed since I don't know where to find your ebuild, if it is public at all, but the tests need to depend on backport-abc-0.5. Stable 0.4 won't cut it. I am now moving to cython 0.28 in the sage-on-gentoo overlay. I got quite a number of failing tests in both python 2.7 and 3.6 for a while in 0.27.3 and now 0.28. That is until I noticed that sage was being set up at the beginning of the tests. After removing sage from my system, cython 0.28 passes its test suite here. I will fine tune a couple of things before publishing in the overlay but I will turn upstream to figure how sage is loaded (cannot find a suspicious call in the code). The latest release of Cython is 0.28.2 (released 2018-04-13). The bug has been closed via the following commit(s): https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=cc601482ca08849755bc24d2b3fcccd50559f2a8 commit cc601482ca08849755bc24d2b3fcccd50559f2a8 Author: Michał Górny <mgorny@gentoo.org> AuthorDate: 2018-04-28 19:28:38 +0000 Commit: Michał Górny <mgorny@gentoo.org> CommitDate: 2018-04-28 19:29:41 +0000 dev-python/cython: Bump to 0.28.2 Bump to 0.28.2 release.
