The answer to $summary is 'yes'. A USE flag would imply that upstream provides an option for that - which is not the case. Patches to undo the change are floating around for dolphin, kate, you can apply them locally with epatch_user. Personally I think that if you regularly depend on dolphin root actions something is wrong with your workflow. Meanwhile upstream work is going into kauth support for kio. My "workflow" works well for decades, as I do know what I'm doing, but YMMV. THX for the clue looking for a patch undoing this nonsense - now it runs as expected. :) CU Tom @kde, opinions about adding a patch behind a USE flag? I don't think it is worth the effort.
