Comment 2 Paulo Fidalgo 2004-10-11 15:39:30 UTC
This is just to remember that there are one new version of wxwidgets out there (2.5.3). After that I think that this ebuild could be close because there are already ebuilds for 2.5.X in the portage.

Thanks!!!

Yes, wx 2.5.3 is out with a _lot_ fixes! I think that is is stable enough to be at least ~x86
Comment 4 Rob Cakebread (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-12 13:18:03 UTC
I've tested 2.5.3 and almost nothing in portage works with it, so its definately not ready for ~arch. The API in 2.5 is unstable and has changed between 2.5.1, 2.5.2 and 2.5.3. If you really want it, you can copy the 2.5.1 ebuild hard masked in portage to 2.5.3 and it will compile, but just about every wxGTK, wxPython, wxRuby, wxHaskell app will not work.
Comment 5 Giacomo Perale 2004-10-22 10:11:04 UTC
As far as I know, the only software in portage that currently uses wxGTK 2.5 is amule 2.0.0 rcX, and development snapshot 2.5.3 fixes a few problems (notably webserver is now working again), so I think that bumping 2.5.1 ebuild to 2.5.3 leaving it hard masked could be useful. IMHO, of course.
Are there apps that work with 2.5.1 and don't work with 2.5.3?
