Description Jeremy Fincher 2004-08-30 07:08:11 UTC
Supybot is platform-independent: it will run on any platform on which Python runs. Probably due to its current dependency on PySQLite (about which I filed another bug earlier) it is listed as only runnable on x86 and ppc. This, obviously, isn't correct. I myself have run Supybot on Sparc, and even PySQLite's platforms are listed as x86, ppc, alpha, sparc, and amd64.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Expected Results:
Supybot should be considered to be available on all platforms that Python is available on. The platform
list for Python 2.3 is "~x86 ~ppc ~sparc ~arm ~hppa ~amd64 ~s390 ~alpha ~ia64 ~mips".

and this?
Comment 2 Jeremy Fincher 2004-08-30 11:09:24 UTC
Likewise as with the other thread. Whatever severity you choose for this bug, it certainly isn't an "enhancement." It's a definite bug in the Supybot package.

well, the way things work in gentoo is that the architecture maintainers go and mark packages for their architectures. usually, that means either the dev or a user requests them to mark it for their architecture after they've tested it, and it works.

it's true that python programs generally work on all architectures, but since i can only test on ppc and x86, i can only mark those myself. i'll bring this bug to the attention of other arches.

closing this for now. arch maintainers mark pacakges at their own pace.
