When compiled with +ocamlopt (the default) on a Raspberry-Pi, I get an out of bounds error: 

Invalid argument: index out of bounds 
Raised by primitive operation at file "/var/tmp/portage/net-misc/unison-2.48.4/work/src/uitext.ml", line 690, characters 12-74 

Works fine compiled with -ocamlopt. However I had to add MAKEOPTS="-j1" to manage to compile this version.

Cannot reproduce on amd64.  Need to confirm on arm.

yes, on my 5 machines, only one is arm and it is the only one where I found this problem.

I stopped using gentoo on RPi.

It does build on amd64
(version now is quite a lot later (2.48.15).

So no, i guess this one can be closed.
