It is sad to read that you have problems with the software. The situation seems to be a bit more complicate and requires some analysis. I can not see a problem in the ebuild. Perhaps it changes upstream, or in the kernel module. We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems. I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this. Of course there are also forums and mailing lists [2,3]. If upstream provides a support channel ask there first. I hope you understand, that I will close the bug here therefore and wish you good luck on one of the mentioned channels [4]. Please reopen the ticket in order to provide an indication for an error in the ebuild. There seems to be a newer version (1.6.6, since 4 weeks) available. Can You make a new ebuild for that version to try it? Thanks, mdb Notice: git clone git://anongit.freedesktop.org/ModemManager/ModemManager cd ModemManager git diff 1.6.2 1.6.4 => src/mm-broadband-modem-qmi.c +1740, +1792 (don't understand that from the diff, yet, but it might be a possible source of the misbehaviour) From "git log 1.6.2": commit 8c905383b7f8f59e7b78c054ace828096a7fe6ba Author: Aleksander Morgado <aleksander@aleksander.es> Date: Sat Jan 30 16:25:20 2016 -0800 broadband-modem-qmi: locked states also indicate readiness of the SIM card When the card application is flagged as needing PIN or PUK, then the card can be considered as being ready. Notice: ModemManager uses the Huawei plugin. Formerly, as far as I remember, the option plugin was used. Checking ModemManager/plugins/huawei/... Notice: git-head version of ModemManager (as of about 2017-06-10) has the same issues with my MedionMobile UMTS stick. Don't have time to further investigate these days, have a new job... I was wrong, ModemManager does support my Huawei E173 UMTS USB-stick, have seen that it correctly announces the Modem/Broadband device to NetworkManager. What didn't work is USE-flag dependent: nm-applet has IUSE="... modemmanager ...", it should be "... +modemmanager ..." as it is in NetworkManager's IUSE. My nm-applet was built without "USE=modemmanager"... :-( Sorry for the trouble I made. :-( |
