Bug 620676 – =dev-libs/libinput-1.7.2 and/or =x11-drivers/xf86-input-libinput-0.25.1 (using GNOME): Synaptics touchpad cannot move cursor

After upgrading from =dev-libs/libinput-1.6.2 and =x11-drivers/xf86-input-libinput-0.24.0 to =dev-libs/libinput-1.7.2 and =x11-drivers/xf86-input-libinput-0.25.1, (synaptics) touchpad no longer moved the cursor and tap to click no longer worked (though natural scrolling and double finger tap to right click still worked). A USB mouse plugged in simultaneously worked with no problems.

The problem persisted across a reboot.

The touchpad was fully functional again after downgrading back to =dev-libs/libinput-1.6.2 and =x11-drivers/xf86-input-libinput-0.24.0 and then rebooting.

It is sad to read that you have problems with the software. The situation seems to be a bit more complicate and requires some analysis.
We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems. 

I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this. Of course there are also forums and mailing lists [2,3].
I hope you understand, that I will close the bug here therefore and wish you good luck on one of the mentioned channels [4].
Please reopen the ticket in order to provide an indication for an error in the ebuild.
