I've tried to re-introduce the gtk2 version (requires a small patch) but unfortunately ff-53 segfaults with gtk2. any news on this? The segfault is still there with 54.0? The "cairo-gtk2" toolkit is no longer supported by firefox starting with 53.0, and the code has changed upstream enough that functionality cannot be restored. So yes, after 52.x, gtk2 support is gone. It's a pity. I don't like the look and feel of gtk3/adwaita, and I was hoping some workaround "à la alsa" was possible; there is still a gtk2 folder in the binary distribution. Anyway, thank you for looking into this. You can use themes other than adwaita to adjust the look+feel. Also, the gtk2 code that exists is there because of nsplugin support (which still exists for flash) hasn't been totally dropped. |
