Description André Terpstra 2004-08-25 01:05:00 UTC
I'm in the ~x86 branch. Today's emerge -u world broke my system. I now get tons of depmod errors and rebooting also complains repeatedly about a modprobe error. The error message here is

"modprobe: QM_MODULES: function not implemented"

I'm not sure but an update to modutils could be the problem. modprobe completely fails as well as kernel recompilations with modules.

Since I can no longer modprobe my NIC driver I cannnot paste any information from that system right now, nor can I downgrade modutils.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

A downgrade to modutils-2.4.26 AND a subsequent re-emerge of module-init-tools seems to repair my system, for the moment. It took some effort to find this out, but then, this is probably what ~x86 is all about?!

Would an upgrade to 2.4.27 and again a re-emerge of module-init-tools also work? It's still a bug, I think.
