Summary: kde fails to compile
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Dave <dogearbooks>
Component: [OLD] KDEAssignee: Gentoo KDE team <kde>
Status: VERIFIED NEEDINFO
Severity: normal
Priority: High
Version: 1.0
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux

Description Dave 2004-08-24 14:04:12 UTC
When I type 'emerge kde' using the make.conf settings recommended in the handbook the process crashes while compiling imlibs. The line USE="-gtk -gnome qt kde dvd alsa cdr" seems to be the problem. Changing it to USE="gtk -gnome qt kde dvd alsa cdr" eliminates the problem (remove the dash in front of gtk).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. use the line 'USE="-gtk -gnome qt kde dvd alsa cdr"' in make.conf
2. emerge kde
3. Wait for crash

Actual Results:
Multiple compile errors - too many to list.

Expected Results:
emerged kde

the handbook is fine
Comment 2 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2004-08-24 15:23:13 UTC
however, you need to list the compile errors and `emerge info` before we can help

if the compile errors is a lot, then try `emerge kde-package-that-crashes >& log` and post the log file as an attachment

Close dead old bug originally resolved "needinfo".
