Are you sure you don't mean upower-pm-utils? See bug 596988

What am I supposed to learn from your pacakge.provided file? Please provide a link with news about its deprecation.

If you think it is deprecated solely because powerdevil builds without you having pm-utils installed, well, it is a runtime dependency, not required for build.

there is no development for last 6 years, also powerdevil can run without it.

Sure powerdevil does. It's about consolekit users, for suspend/resume support.

So you use openrc/consolekit, do have neither pm-utils nor upower-pm-utils installed, and can still suspend/hibernate?

I use openrc/consolekit, but i don't suspend/hibernate as i don't need it.

We can't remove it because you don't need it; can you try it?

okay, I'll try with kernel update.

So, sys-power/pm-utils definitely is not deprecated for consolekit users.

However, this bug at least inspired me to remove the alternative upower-pm-utils dependency that really is deprecated.
