i had this problem when there were issues loading the glibc libraries ... more specificly, /lib/{libc.so,ld-linux.so} once i fixed those 2 files init worked fine you have devfs enabled in the kernel? gentoo would error upon boot if it wasnt ... Are you using an x11 xdm-ish startup, and did you specify a DISPLAYMANAGER in rc.conf ? Well, I have repaired it, it was devfs fault ant different names in inittab (for consoles) they were tty and should be vc. I just wonder why it is not working automaticly. |
