Description Tobias Klausmann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2017-01-24 12:24:08 UTC
Before (1.1.7):

 $ scanelf -BF '%F;%f;%S;%n;%M' /lib64/libpthread.so.0
/lib64/libpthread.so.0;libpthread.so.0;libpthread.so.0;libc.so.6,ld-linux-x86-64.so.2;ELFCLASS64

After (1.2.1):
$ scanelf -BF '%F;%f;%S;%n;%M' /lib64/libpthread.so.0
/lib64/libpthread.so.0;libpthread.so.0;vents_t_event_bits;GI___msgrcv,v;ELFCLASS64

Note the stray symbol on the second to last field (from %n). I presume r-r is then looking for that library and fails, causing rebuilds for everything that links against the library (libpthread.so.0 in this case).

I am not sure whether r-r needs to be fixed or if scanelf broke, so I have maske >=pax-utils-1.2 for now.

vapier@ on CC since he maintains pax-utils.

It is breaking more than just revdep-rebuild.py, it also broke gen_usr_ldscript in toolchain-funcs.eclass causing ebuilds to fail.

Thanks for package masking it.
