The cached "catman pages" are maintained outside of portage by the man page rendering software. There's no reasonable way for random ebuilds to clear them out. The systemd unit for the man-db package runs the following command to clear out old catman pages periodically. Perhaps the cron.daily file should be updated to do the same. # Expunge old catman pages which have not been read in a week. ExecStart=/usr/bin/find /var/cache/man -type f -name *.gz -atime +6 -delete |
