Note: kernel 2.6.8.1 is a NFS bugfix for 2.6.8. It's not shown as latest kernel on kernel.org because of script problems.

Will they change the version name?  Or will some scripts need to be changed ?

It seems to detect the version just fine here so I don't see any issue: if you still experience this bug, then please reopen it.
