Description Matthias Nagel 2016-11-17 08:46:39 UTC
When logging out from Plasma remaining desktop except for the logoff dialog is darkened. This effect works as expected on my laptop (Intel graphics i915) but causes severe screen corruption on my desktop PC.

I get a checkerboard pattern that "jumps around" while the actual fading effect is running. Usual the tiles show old screen content that has been displayed previously during the session. (See attachment.)

Until now I have been thinking this was caused by my GeForce GTX 660 and the free nouveau driver, because I have never got it to work reliable and I have been believing that this kind of corruption was just another flaw.

Yesterday, I finally changed my graphic card. I now have an AMD R9 380 and use the amdgpu/radeonsi driver. As far as I call tell all other problems have disappeared. However, this particular error remained.

A lot of updates have happened, both in KDE software and graphics stack, is this still happening? I've never seen anything like it, flickering on fade-out yes, but nothing as severe.
