Description samurai.no.dojo 2016-11-13 13:30:45 UTC
Hello,
I am unable to input accented letters into app-office/libreoffice-5.1.4.2 running on kde-plasma/plasma-meta-5.7.5 using czech (cs_CZ) keyboard and locale.
Accented letters which are "natural" to keymap are input OK (eg. key 5 - on us keyboard - is mapped to ř key on cz),
on keymap) I would usually use <Shift>+<´>(mapped as <=> on us) and then <n> key combination to compose "ň".
This works everywhere else (as I know), but libreoffice, this key combination results into "n".

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Switch input keymap to cz (default variant)
2.Open lowriter
3.Press <Shift>+<=> and then <n> (or <Shift>+<´> and then <n>)
Actual Results:
Character "n" input into document.

Expected Results:
Character "ň" input into document.

I even tried to enable gtk use to no help.

I also get this when trying to run lowriter from terminal:
lowriter
javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!
Warning: failed to read path from javaldx

I am sorry for double comment...
Comment 4 Jouni Kosonen 2016-11-13 16:07:26 UTC
Possibly related, implicates x11-libs/libX11-1.6.4 as the reason:

Comment 5 Jonas Stein gentoo-dev 2016-11-14 19:08:06 UTC
I use the compose key function and remember that there had been upstream bugs from time to time which let accented letters fail.

This problem is not easy to debug and most likely an upstream problem.
I would suggest to contact the upstream support channels and try to collect more information.

Please let us know, if there is anything we can do from the gentoo side.

is this a duplicate?
