Description Christoph Junghans (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2016-11-10 15:37:34 UTC
I would like to rename my gentoo account from "ottxor" to "junghans".

Ok, we need to schedule a time with you for this.

At the moment we do the switchover, anything that uses the old username to authenticate will break. Having you on-hand to confirm it works after switchover is really useful.

Eg:
- SSH to dev.g.o
- Email on dev.g.o.
- Bugzilla (you are strongly encouraged to logout beforehand to avoid cookie issues)
- Forums
- CVS (Git will be fine, it identifies by keys)

forum-mods:
please rename user s/ottxor/junghans/

a3li:
I didn't find any documentation on user-rename in the wiki. Not sure what there is other than change the database and update all of the pages, and/or if you have any tools for it.

DONE:
- LDAP (includes email)
- mailing lists
- mail alias (woodpecker)
- woodpecker shell (homedir moved, symlink in place at old name)
- Gitolite
- CVS username

THINGS-TO-DO-YOURSELF:
- add your new email address to your GPG key (remember to upload it!)
- Update any references in the git repos from your old username to the new one (URIs, metadata, copyright attributions etc)

There is a bit of tooling, database editing not a good idea.

Two separate things are involved here:
 1) Login/account name which we change on request
 2) Developer profile which can be changed independently

Christoph, I take you want your user to be "Junghans" on the Wiki? (1)
Also, feel free to make the appropriate edits on your user page at your convenience. (2)

I did (2), can you rename my login (1), too?

Anything else to be done here or can we close it?
