Currently running 2.6.2-gentoo-r1 kernel.  Decided to start running 2.6.7-gentoo-r11 kernel.

After compiling, the system stops at the "Setting up Logical Volume Manager" section of the "Services" load.  

I am running devfs. 

my /etc/make.conf is:
