Description Amit Pansare 2002-08-03 09:44:42 UTC
I am using Gentoo 1.2
gcc 2.95.3-r7
windowmaker 0.80.1-r2
xfree 4.2.0-r12

The crash occurs only during following condition...
Open xterm in WindowMaker and press ALT + F1. The Xterm closes mysteriously. No
other terminals show this behaviour.

There is no fault message on the console (X started using startx) excpet for:

GDk-Warning: Missing charchter sets in FontSet Creation

GDk-Warning: ISO8859-1

But I am assuming that this is not harmful and not related to xterm crashing.

And if you change the font to another encoding ?
Comment 2 Amit Pansare 2002-08-05 02:08:10 UTC
I am sorry, but I am not sure how to change the font encoding for xterm to UTF-8
or any other font encoding. And I didnt find answer on #gentoo or even searching
www.google.com/linux. So please guide me on this. BTW, xterm also crashes with
ALT+f2/f3.. (and not for alt+f5 to f12 keys, alt+f4 assigned to close
windows)While running Window maker again, I never got those GDk_warnings I
metioned before. Still unsure as of why xterm crashes *only* in WindowMaker and
not in IceWm

Have you tried 4.2.1 or 4.2.1-r1 yet ?
