Also, going by the limited output (cause - as the output says - in general case of getting support '--verbose-conflicts' would be *strongly* recommended...as well as pasting the full output instead of using a screenshot), the conflict is triggered by sci-mathematics/polymake.

As far as that goes, the comment in the ebuild doesn't seem to be backed by any bug here, but the upstream repo (which btw. is one of those *misusing* vcses) not only has 14r1 with fixes for perl 5.22 and gcc 5, but even got in the mean time to 3.0r2, claiming support for gcc 6 and perl 5.24.

So let's turn this into urgent (as it's needed for stable) version bump.

I don't understand some of your comments here, but I bumped it to 3.0r2 and it works fine with perl 2.24

What do you mean by "turn this into urgent"?
For what stabilization is this needed?  The problem existed all the way since perl-5.24 entered the tree.  You could not upgrade perl and have polymake installed.
