Hi,
assimp tarball contains useful file cmake-modules/Findassimp.cmake,
which would be nice if it would be installed.

I believe adding following to ebuild would do this:

src_install() {
        cmake-utils_src_install

        insinto /usr/share/cmake/Modules
        doins cmake-modules/Findassimp.cmake
}

Try installing =media-libs/assimp-3.2-r3
