Bug 59197

Summary: Unable to perform a non-network installation of Gentoo 2004.2
Product: Gentoo Release Media Reporter: Michael E. Adams <meadams>
Component: EverythingAssignee: Gentoo LiveCD Package Maintainers <livecd>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE
Severity: normal CC: amd64
Priority: High
Version: unspecified
Hardware: AMD64
OS: Linux
Whiteboard:
Package list:
Runtime testing required: ---

Description Michael E. Adams 2004-08-02 14:33:02 UTC
The AMD64 2004.2 Universal LiveCD provides /usr/portage/distfiles/genpatches-2.6-7.38-extras.tar.bz2 but attemps to emerge genpatches-2.7-7.43-extras.tar.bz2. This makes a non-networked installation impossible.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Follow Gentoo Handbook installation instructions for a non-networked stage3 installation.
2. At the point that you emerge the gentoo-dev-sources, the installation quits because it is unable to obtain the specified genpatches.
3.

Actual Results:
Installation aborts.

Expected Results:
Complete non-networked stage3 installation. I need a non-networked installation
before I can introduce my employer to Gentoo.

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
