when trying to emerge gtkglarea, it dies giving an undefined reference to `_Unwind_Resume_or_Rethrow@GCC_3.3 error (similar errors are found when emergeing ghostscript)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge sync
2.emerge gtkglarea
3.

Actual Results:  
it does not compile

Expected Results:  
it should compile

also see bug 43400, the error message is very similar. this may be an issue with GCC

The bug referenced hints that this isn't confined to this application, nor a GNOME issue, can we follow the progress on that bug and mark this a dupe reporter?
