...totally forgot to mention this, oops - I'm using sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-4.4.6 as my kernel. 1. The original thinking was that genkernel should be shipping a minimal kernel, targeting desktop usable generally, and thus NAT was excluded. NAT used to be a much larger penalty than it is now, and only used on hosts with routing duties. 2. This is fixed in the 3.5 series, which has other major changes in kernel configuration, to reflect that the world has changed. Please test the 3.5.x series and file bugs for breakages. |
