Description Marius Brehler 2016-06-14 06:47:51 UTC
NVIDIA released 352.93 for Tesla devices in April. I assume this might be the last driver of the 352 branch, which is no longer the "long lasting branch". Also newer drivers might support our K40c devices, I would appreciate a version bump to 352.93, since this is the last official release for CUDA 7.5 and Telsa GPUs. CUDA 8.0 isn't yet stable and only available as a release candidate.

Reproducible: Always

x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers has never supported the Tesla specific driver releases, as far as I am aware.
Comment 2 Marius Brehler 2016-06-15 11:55:36 UTC
So how to proceed? If Telsa specific releases are not welcome we can close this bug and I will deploy the driver over local overlays to all my machines. However, other Gentoo users won't profit from that way. The other options I see is either a version bump or maybe a new ebuild (for example nvidia-drivers-tesla).
Comment 3 Marius Brehler 2016-09-12 07:32:35 UTC
Since I have three machines with K40c, I could take over the maintenance of this new package if desired. Anyway, these ebuild would be mainly a copy of the nvidia-drivers package. How should the package be called? x11-drivers/nvidia-tesla-drivers?
